CML Frequently Asked QuestionsBelow you will find answers to the most common questions we receive. If you still cannot find the answer you are looking for then please click here to contact us directly.
When you register a team in any of our Leagues/Contests, you can administer the questions to as many students as you wish. Your team score is your top 6 student scores in math or your top 10 student scores for all other subjects. For our leagues, student names can change from meet to meet. You report your team scores on score forms provided or by visiting the results section of our website. Example: You register a grade 5 math team. You can give 5 meets to as many grade 5 students as you wish. After each meet, you list the top 6 student scores - this sum becomes your team score. For Meets 2, 3 ,4 and 5 different student names can be listed on the score form and their scores when added up become your team score for that meet. Your cumulative score is the sum of the previous and current Meet scores. For grades 4 - 9 we offer two divisions - the Euclidean and Pythagorean divisions. The Euclidean division has questions calling upon average reading comprehension and analytical reasoning. The Pythagorean division has questions calling upon above-average reading comprehension and analytical reasoning. There is the only one set of questions for all other Leagues/Contests. Note: A team cannot participate in both the Euclidean and Pythagorean Divisions. However, many schools enter one team in the Euclidean Division and a different team (in the same or a different grade level) in the Pythagorean Division. No, but meets should be given as close to the scheduled dates as possible. For the contests - they can be given on any day in a designated two week period. Yes. For a school to be listed in the Meet/Contest print-outs sent to each school, we need to receive score sheets about ten days after the Meet/Contest is scheduled. If a school misses this deadline, we still count their results in future print-outs. (Under certain circumstances a school that is late too often could not be a regional or national winner, but the students are all eligble for a regional or national award.) A Home School to us does not necessarily mean a student is schooled at home - rather, simply a student that wishes to participate when his or her school does not. So yes, we attach Home School to the student's last name such as the Smith Home School. The fee is reduced to $10 per child for each League/Contest. No student may participate on a school team and as a "Home School " team. An example: A student is registered for grade 5 Euclidean Division math and for a grade 5 Science. Cost is $20. Schools and parents can order but only by mail as we do not accept credit card orders by phone or online. Here is how the books can be ordered:
